To be eligible for consideration for Most Improved Skipper, sailor must have sailed at least 50% of the races last year (13) and50% of the races in 2010 (12). Sailors earn values computed by what position they finished at ineach race, compared with their direct competitors for that race, with a low score beingbest (i.e. If a sailor took first place out of 10 boats, they would receive 1/10 or 0.1 points. If they took last place out of 10 boats, they would receive 10/10 or 1.0 points). Once all race values are computed for each year, they are averaged to get a yearly Average score. The Average value from this year issubtracted from the Average for last year to determine the amount of improvement. The sailor with the greatest improvement value is the Most Improved Skipper.
