2024 Year End Awards Banquet Info & RSVP

Our year-end dinner/celebration is Sunday September 22 at 5:00pm at La Cantina in Paw Paw.  If you were at our last get together at Jac’s, you may have seen the limited menu that Julie L and I selected.  This menu is included below. We ask that you RSVP with either a yes or no – by replying to this email, along with your dinner selections and if you want to add a side salad.  We have the back of the restaurant to ourselves, and later, we will have our trophies/gifts/meeting in the room downstairs.  Fleet-provided appetizers will be provided soon after 5pm, so be sure to arrive on time!

Again, simply reply to this email by no later than Monday September 16th with your RSVP.

Weather permitting, our commodore Wally Elsner has offered to host a bonfire not far away.  If you want to attend,  BYOB and your own chair.

Let me know if you have any questions –

Year End Party Date Set

Good morning!

Julie and I were talking last night about getting a year end date set, and looking at our schedules, along with CRAM’s regatta dates, we decided to pick Sunday September 22, a Sunday to make it easier for Michael K. to attend.  Also, it’s easier to book a restaurant for a late Sunday afternoon.

Also, since last night was so painfully loud at Jac’s with the music, I’m thinking we should try a new place if we have another cancellation.  Maybe Main St Pub or Monelli’s.

Stay dry and don’t float away!

What a great year end banquet for 2021

We had a great year end banquet on Saturday, October 2, 2021 at Main Street Pub on Westnedge in Portage. This was a VERY welcome change from last year’s CoVid-19 Zoom Year End Party! We had the whole outside patio area to our group and the weather super cooperated with holding off on the rain until after 10 PM. Our server, Callie, knows Austin Lee and has sailed with him a few times. She is also on the WMU Sailing Team. Callie did a great job with our large group, and kept the food and drinks coming.

Trophies were given out to sailors. The Most Improved New Skipper award this year (mainly due to CoVid) was not awarded, as none of the new skippers had enough races to be qualified for consideration. Andy Lenczycki took the award for Most Improved Seasoned Skipper this year. The full results sheet is posted on the Series Results page, after the spring and summer, A & B fleet results (just before the 2020 results heading). If you click on the picture, you can get/download a larger version.

Don’t miss the ALCA year end awards banquet!

Reminder that this Saturday, October 2, 2021 is the ALCA Year End Awards Banquet. We have reserved the patio for this event. If the weather is not suited for an outdoor event, we will move to the inside. Please wear your masks and look for more information in our weekly emails.

Where: Main Street Pub, 7509 S. Westnedge, Portage, Michigan

When: Saturday, October 2, 2021

What Time: Beginning at 5 PM – come late and miss the appetizers

Who: All registered fleet members and RSVP’s guests

RSVP To: Julie Lenczycki if you plan on being there

What’s Happening: Year end trophy presentations for A & B Fleet, Most Improved New & Seasoned Skipper Awards, vote on fleet officers for upcoming year (if you are not present, you may be nominated).

ALCA Year end party updates

Remember we have our year-end party on Saturday, October 19th at Lodo’s.  If you haven’t RSVP-ed your dinner choices yet to Julie and me, please do!  Thank you to those who have already.  The dinner selections are:

  • Sirloin with roasted potatoes
  • Chicken Scampi
  • Fish and Chips
  • Vegetarian Lo Do Pasta

Also, for those of you who have ordered ALCA/World’s shirts, the cost turned out to be $19 each.  Lori will have the shirts on the 19th at the party, please bring your money to pay her then. If you ordered a shirt and can’t make it to the party, please pay Lori some other way.

Finally, when many of us are planning our ski trips, there’s still more sailing to be had.  A few of us were thinking of getting out on Austin L.  (Sunday 9/6/19) for some fun sailing – the World’s are less than a month away, and we don’t want to forget what being on the boat, at the tiller or jib sheets feels like……. IF the bug hits you, please join us!
Just thought of something so you can remember the money for the shirts…… $19 on the 19th!  LOL!
